Main Considerations for Tennis Court Construction Planning

Recreation & Sports Blog

Want to up your game in tennis? Building your own tennis court is an excellent way to optimise the environment for improving your performance in the game of tennis. Before you hit the ground running, there are things you should know because they can affect the viability of the project. Here are a few important things to find out prior to the commencement of the project.

What are the restrictions in your area?

The first thing you should do is to find out what rules and regulations apply to the place where you live. Most towns or cities have laws that govern how you can use your home. These laws are known as zoning laws, and they're often found on the website or at offices of local governments. You should consult these to find out if tennis court construction is compatible with current zoning requirements. If not outright outlawed, there may be guidelines on the specific kind and size of tennis court you can construct on your residential property.

Additional restrictions may also be imposed by the homeowners association (HOA) rules and regulations that apply to your neighbourhood. For example, there may be limitations against the height of the fence you can build on your property, and this may not be compatible with tennis court requirements.

Where will you build your tennis court?

Regulation-sized tennis courts are flat and quite large, so you'll need to have a flat, sizeable yard to build one. If you have a smaller yard, you may have to settle for a smaller than a regulation-sized court or relinquish the idea of having your own court altogether.

The decision on what size of court to build will come down to the size of your yard.

What surfacing system will you use?

There is a variety of surfacing options for your tennis court. Different court surfaces have different qualities that affect how the ball spins and bounces, and this impacts playing style remarkably.

Regardless of which type of tennis court surface you choose, all surfaces require proper design, construction and maintenance to ensure a safe and functional playing environment.

Building your own tennis court is a major undertaking that you need to do correctly the first time. That's why you should enlist the services of a dedicated professional to remove any guesswork from the project. Sports and Recreation Saved My Life

I can safely say that recreational activities and sports have saved my life. Before I started to fill my weekends with fun things to do, I was massively unhappy. I would sometimes sit alone and feel so low. My friend was worried about me so he invited me to his boxing club. I didn't want to go but I also didn't want to let my friend down. However, after the first session, I realised that I felt much better. I continued to try out other sports and even went out shooting with my friend. My mood improved and so did my fitness. I hope you like reading about my journey.
